We invite you, the community of artists and art lovers, to stop by and add to your own collection of supplies and artwork. It’s a Studio Sale for Artists and Art Lovers! There will be some great values for your perusal and purchase.

A reception will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2-4 P.M. at Gallery 10, 15 Eureka St., Sutter Creek.  Everyone is welcome to celebrate the New Year with us!

January at Sutter Creek Gallery: Kirk Neiberger (The Inkist)

Channeling some artistic license and purely for fun, Kirk Neiberger calls himself “The Inkist” as the brand for his original pen and ink drawings. His realistic creations are characterized by an attention to detail that enables viewers to recognize and connect with the scenes.  Some are entirely black and white, while others are enhanced with bits  of color. The artist will be featured at Sutter Creek Gallery throughout January, with an opening reception on Saturday, January 7, from 2 to 5 p.m.

As a young man, Neiberger fell in love with the medium of etchings because of the generally small size and often fine detail work necessary to produce this artwork. However, he couldn’t afford all the expensive supplies that were required to produce high quality etchings. He chose the next best thing (pen and ink) that would, to some degree, approximate the feel of an etching. Upon retiring from 37 years as a trlal attorney, he reconnected with his second love, creating art through his drawings.

Neiberger particularly loves to interpret local images and scenes, both historical and common place. Almost all his drawings are from photos, which he personally takes on his iPhone both at home and abroad during what he calls his "photo safaris."  Over time, his initial black and white drawings began to feature little highlights of color using either watercolors or colored India ink. He releases limited-edition, high quality Giclee prints of his original drawings which he personally hand-titles and numbers. These prints also come with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Kirk Neiberger is one of twenty-two local artists exhibiting at the gallery located in the heart of Sutter Creek at 40 Main Street. Besides original paintings and photography, the gallery offers numerous affordable items including prints, cards, jewelry, pottery, fused glass and gourds.  Framing and layaway services are also available.

The gallery is open Thursday through Monday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For additional information, call 209-267-0228, email suttercreekgallery@gmail.com, or visit  www.suttercreekgallery.com.
