At the
July 8 meeting of the Amador County Artists Association, Wendy Ward will
demonstrate a variety of techniques to transfer images, such as old family
photographs, onto different surfaces: paper, fabric, wood and canvas. Finished samples will be shown to compare as
results vary depending upon the technique and the receiving surface. A transferred image can be used as the focal
point of a piece or as a way to add interesting texture and patterning. Transfers can produce a translucent and irregular quality,
something more textured, or a saturated and smooth image.
The artist currently works with acrylic paint,
multi-media and digital imagery. She
likes to work with old family images and the samples provided are of her Great
Aunt Clara and her Grandmother Selma as a baby.
Both images were transferred via acrylic gel skins. This demonstration may spark an interest to
further explore the creative possibilities of image transfer. ACAA meets the second Wednesday each month at
the Jackson Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend and new
members are welcome. For information on
