The Amador County Artists Association (ACAA) Student Art Show will be on display at the AmadorArts offices, 617 South Highway 49, in the Motherlode plaza, Jackson.  The art of high school students from Amador and Argonaut will be open to the public starting Monday, March 25 and will run until Friday, March 29. The office hours to view the work are daily from 11am until 2pm and 4 to 6pm.

There will be a closing reception and award ceremony on Friday, March 29th from 4 to 6pm and the public is invited.

The art is amazing and students were invited to enter work in seven different categories; pastel, watercolor, photography, acrylic, drawing, ceramics, and mixed media. Awards are given to the top students in each medium, as well as the Best of School, and Best of Show. The event is funded by donations from ACAA and AmadorArts and is a much anticipated yearly event.

March at Sutter Creek Gallery: Cynthia Dunn-Selph - "Mixed Media Medley"

Cynthia Dunn-Selph has been creating art in a multitude of media her whole life: acrylics, ceramics, mosaics, photography, paper making and more. Her current focus is on printmaking and encaustics so she has titled her March show at Sutter Creek Gallery "Mixed Media Medley." Encaustic painting involves heating beeswax and applying it to a rigid surface. The wax can be colored and used to embed photographs, leaves and other objects.
Cynthia has created commissioned pieces and has shown and sold her work in California, Kansas, and Arizona, receiving numerous awards. She currently teaches classes to children and adults through the local recreation department, and at local art venues, focusing on the aspects of process and play rather than just technique. She believes we are all artists in need of an outlet for our creativity. Cynthia has participated as a teacher each year in A Taste of the Arts, a community outreach program sponsored by the Amador Arts Council.
The artist has curated shows at numerous small galleries over the years and is currently a member of the Amador County Artists Association, the Sierra Wax Artists, and the Sutter Creek Gallery where her work is on display. Additional art can be seen at her website www.alldunnart.com and on her Facebook page, All Dunn Art.
Sutter Creek Gallery invites you to meet Cynthia Dunn-Selph at her reception and to view her unique creations.

Jackson, CA
AmadorArtists.org

"I retired from CDF now CAL FIRE in 1996 and tried wood carving for about a year after which I started a second career in regulatory work. There went the art on the shelf for another dozen years. When I finally retired for the last time I came across a medium that suited me, the mighty gourd, nine years ago. I tried most of the mediums and am currently adding sculpting to my gourd art. I will demonstrate the materials I use and how to manipulate the clays and epoxy woods, as well as show different gourd and non gourd uses for the mediums including colors and tools of the trade. I hope to see you at the ACAA meeting in March."

March at Gallery 10: Daffodil Hill and More

Gallery 10 is celebrating the beauty of our local Favorite Place of Spring, Daffodil Hill, for our March show.  Daffodil Hill is a special location, fields of daffodils nodding their bright yellow and white faces in the sunshine. It’s a treat to the whole community and to visitors from afar.  We look forward to its opening, hope for sunny days to extend the bloom, and after missing the gift last March, due to late snow and bad weather, we are anxiously awaiting word for this March.

Gallery 10 has invited its members and consignors to contribute landscapes of Daffodil Hill and other springtime scenes. We will also have floral paintings to share. Come to celebrate spring at our reception on Saturday, March 2, 2-4 P.M. at Gallery 10, 15 Eureka St., Sutter Creek.  All are welcome!  We look forward to seeing you!
