Cathleen
thinks that she may have been carrying a sketch book and pen when she was born
because she has rarely been without them for seven decades. She has filled
dozens of sketch books and painted hundreds of uniquely recognizable works.
She
studied art primarily with the renowned Maurice Lapp, to whom she owes
her pronounced sense of color and balance. She has been a featured artist in shows
locally, in Sonoma County, and in Washington State. Twenty five years ago, she joined with fellow
artists to form Gallery 10 in Sutter Creek where she will be the featured
artist in October. She has painted several new pieces expressly for this
show.
Cathleen
sketches what catches her eye, and if she likes the sketch, it usually becomes
a painting: laundry dancing on the line,
sleeping cats, a book left open on a chair, or a simple landscape. Interiors
with untold stories are favorite subjects. She has published two small books featuring
her Coyote poems, and has printed some
of her favorite paintings as greeting cards.
A reception will be held in her honor on Saturday, October 5, 2-5 P.M. All are welcome! For more information, visit Gallery 10's web site at: www.gallery10.org
