Artists needn’t confine themselves to paint and brushes or pencils and sticks of color. Sometimes they yearn to break out of the traditional mold and work with a different medium or take an artwork apart and form it into something else entirely. Assemblages large and small are often created from discarded objects and collages can be made out of junk mail, photographs or old maps. Art can be fashioned from unexpected materials as will be demonstrated by the members of Sutter Creek Gallery for their October show entitled “Upcycling/ Recycling.”
Since this show is in October, there will be seasonable images as well. The colors of fall will be represented by autumn leaves and local scenes. Halloween witches and pumpkins and black cats will also be in evidence to round out the show. A reception will be held on Saturday, October 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., in conjunction with the region’s First Saturday Art Trek.
