Sutter Creek Gallery is celebrating! We’ve left behind our former location and are
starting something new at 51 Main Street, Sutter Creek.
Saturday, March 28, will bring a Grand Opening
celebration, but we expect to be open for business in mid-March. Our first show
will feature a group exhibition entitled, appropriately enough, “New Beginnings,”
which will continue through the month of April.
Members of the cooperative have submitted artwork on this
theme, resulting in an eclectic mix of subjects, media and styles. Included are
baby animals from photographer Michael Maloney and watercolorist JoAnn
Ogburn. Sunrises are represented by
photographer Nancy Robinson and pastelist Sandra Campbell, with Vickie Chew adding
to the landscapes with her depiction of a spring oak. Sandy Morgan will show a necklace and earring
set repurposed from a discarded silver-plate and copper tray. Ceramic artist Marcus Tikotsky fashions clay
into Raku using unexpected substances, such as dung, salt, and copper wire, to fire
his pieces. And that’s just a sampling
of what will be displayed in our new gallery.
We invite you to our Grand Opening festivities on the 28th
beginning at 1 p.m. We’ll have bubbly drinks
and other refreshments as well as live music by
Gordon Rowland. Besides original paintings and photography,
the gallery offers many affordable items including prints, cards, jewelry,
pottery, and gourd, glass and fiber arts.
Framing and matting services are also available. The gallery is open daily, except Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 pm.
