November at Gallery 10: Anje Olmstead

Anje Olmstead has been an artist since childhood. She earned a degree in Interior design at American River College and went on to become a Certified Floral Designer. At age 35 she started doing “serious art.”  She entered county fair art shows, which led her to a contract designing Needlepoint.  Anje continued to find new and unusual ways to express herself artistically, including studying figure drawing at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, where she met up with other artists. She began to explore paper mosaics. Anje’s mosaics won her several awards, including the “Best of Show” at the 75th Amador County Fair.

Anje continues to work in mosaic and recently was awarded a contract to do a portrait of Margaret Dalton for the Jackson Rancheria.  Currently, Anje is working on a mosaic mural for downtown Ione.  The mural will be 16 3x3 panels for a total of 48 linear feet, to be installed on the street and sidewalk sides of the half-wall in front of Ione City Hall.

Anje considers herself an artist in transition, planning new projects all the time. Now she is working on small stained glass paintings.

Gallery 10, at 15 Eureka St., Sutter Creek, is delighted to welcome Anje as a Guest Artist for November.  You will be treated to a variety of artworks highlighting several of Anje’s stops along her artistic journey.  A reception honoring Anje will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2-5 P.M. Everyone is invited to come, meet Anje, hear about her artistic adventures and enjoy a sip and a snack.  Anje’s show will hang all of November. The Gallery is open Thursday-Monday, 11-5.
