Amador County Artists Association Presents: Art in Amador - Sept 14 & 15

For twelve years, the Amador County Artists Association (ACAA) has sponsored a free fall exhibition featuring local artists showing, demonstrating, and selling their work. Initially, artists’ studios around the county were toured under the name Open Studios.  In the last few years, the ACAA found more local and regional visitors can be accommodated by holding the show in one location.  On September 14 and 15, the Sutter Creek Auditorium will host the two-day event which has been renamed Art in Amador.

More than twenty artists will be displaying a variety of works including paintings, photographs, ceramics, and jewelry. Visitors can choose among paintings created with watercolors, acrylics, encaustics, alcohol ink and pastels.  Hours on Saturday run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Entry into the Auditorium is free as the intent is to showcase the wealth of talent Amador County has to offer.  An important feature of the show will be the raffle of artwork donated by participating artists and others. Tickets are $1 each and all of the money raised from the raffle is used to fund art scholarships and support an art show for high school students. This year two local high school students who plan careers in art were awarded $1200 scholarships.

Sponsors for the exhibition are the Jackson Rancheria, Gold Country Marketing, the Amador County Arts Council, Amador Gourd Artists, St. Katharine Drexel Men’s Club, and Sierra Belles.  Additional information about the event and its participants is available on our website, www.amadorartists.org.
