Every so often Sutter Creek Gallery mounts a member show
rather than highlighting one artist.
For
September, the group exhibition is entitled “A Few of My Favorite Things.”
This show will open on
Saturday, September 7,
and run through the rest of the month.
One of the things that sets the gallery apart is that it
is staffed by local artists. Another is
the diversity of artistic media and styles as the show entries
demonstrate. Rick Wise’s photograph of
“Morning Oysters” is printed on metal instead of paper, as is all his
work. Abstract artist Annie Hughes will
show one of the new acrylics created during a recent stay at Lake Tahoe. Sandy Morgan has submitted a necklace and
cuff fashioned from wild abalone. Ree
McLaughlan-Brown, who primarily works in alcohol ink, will show a piece called
“Neighborhood Watch.” “Chess Vineyard”
in oil is John Peck’s offering. Collage
artist Sandra Campbell has entered “Tuscan Cypress,” created in part from
marbled papers purchased in Italy. These are just a few of our favorite
things.
Come meet the gallery’s artists September 7 at the
reception beginning at 2 p.m. The
cooperative is located in the heart of Sutter Creek at 35 Main Street. Besides original paintings and
photography, the gallery offers numerous affordable items including prints,
cards, jewelry, pottery, as well as gourd, glass and fiber arts. Framing and layaway services are also
available.
